Certificate for Music Educators, Level 4, accredited by ABRSM

This Enact Music online distance learning course, is for all music teachers and educators who wish to improve their teaching and gain a UK based music teaching qualification accredited by ABRSM, at level 4.

Fully completed remotely, with no need for travel, the course learning units are:
  •  Understanding children and young people’s musical learning
  •  Equality, diversity and inclusion in musical learning
  •  Promoting children and young people’s positive behaviour
  •  Safeguarding the welfare and well-being of children and young people in musical learning
  •  Musical learning, planning, leading, assessment, and evaluation
  • Leadership and reflective practice in music education
Assessment is done via a portfolio of assessment tasks that learners complete as per the requirements of the accrediting body.

Dr Lilian Simones

Lilian has been a pianist and piano teacher for most of her life. Her passion for music teaching led her to pursue research in music teaching and music education, resulting in a number of publications in peer-reviewed academic journals. Currently she works as a Researcher Development Consultant at Queen's University Belfast and apart from her CME course Director Duties, she mentors a number of  students in the CME course..

Sue Nicholls

Internal Quality Assurer (IQA)
Following a successful career as a primary music specialist, Sue Nicholls became an Advanced Skills Teacher, a post which allowed her to follow her particular passion within music education: the support of the generalist teacher.  Sue is now a freelance music education consultant, leading workshops and CPD for schools, conferences and Music Hubs nationwide. She delivers modules to teacher trainees and runs the Trinity CME programme at the University of Northampton centre.

Dr Frances Burgess

Frances is  A Senior lecturer in music education in Stranmillis University
College, Belfast. She teaches undergraduate programmes in music
and music education and Masters courses in research methods. She is also
director of the college orchestra. She was previously Head of Music in
Aquinas Grammar School, Belfast.

Paul McQueen 

Having joined the School of Education at Ulster University in 2011, Paul is currently a Lecturer in Education and Educational Leadership. He is also Course Director for the PGCE programme.. Having gained experience in a variety of schools throughout Northern Ireland he worked for two years as Post-Primary Music Field Officer for the NEELB’s Curriculum Advisory and Support Service, gaining a Master’s degree in Education Management
from the Open University in the process. With almost thirty years of teaching experience Paul also acquired a Classic FM Music Teacher of the Year Certificate of Merit and From 2001 to 2013 he was Chair of Examiners for CCEA’s ‘A’ Level Music and in Northern Ireland and is regarded as a
leading authority in post-sixteen music education.

Dr Juliana Licinic

Juliana received her music degree from the University of Zagreb Music Academy, followed by a PhD at the University of Edinburgh, Faculty of Music. Alongside her academic career, her passion for teaching and music education led her to initiate various music kindergarten and musicianship classes, as well as to implement tailored instrumental teaching to pupils. For the past 10 years she has been the co-ordinator of Junior Academy of Music at Queen’s University Belfast, WHICH promotes and inspires hundreds of pupils to learn music.

Mr Michael  Gallagher

trained  as  classical pianist and teacher, Michael holds a degree in Music in addition to Diploma in Piano Performance and Post Grad Certificates. he taught in a number of Public and Private schools as a classroom teacher and a peripatetic tutor.  Michael also teaches GCSE/A-Level (CCEA, AQA and Edexcel) and Piano theory Grades 1-8. His academic interests include the understanding, interpretation and performance of popular music and the use of the methodology for its analysis.
