The CME is a recognised qualification on the UK Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) at level 4, with 32 credits, linked to a flexible programme of learning, which provides a teaching qualification for music teachers and educators working with children and young people, whether in the classroom environment or outside of school, across a range of music teaching and learning contexts.

The ABRSM and Trinity College London are accredited by Ofqual (the UK regulatory body for qualifications) for awarding the CME, and both operate this qualification as a devolved qualification. This means that the CME is offered by providers who are validated by these awarding bodies (i.e., the ABRSM and TCL). Enact Music was validated by these awarding bodied to deliver the CME qualification.

The CME course at Enact Music was designed to fit around the life of busy music teachers and educators. Designed by music teachers to music teachers, at Enact Music we are fully aware that music  teachers are often people who multi-task between multiple professional and family related responsibilities and commitments. For this reason, we created a flexible programme of learning which enables music educators working with children and young people in any part of the world,  to gain recognition for their work while benefiting from opportunities to develop their practice.

• The excellent feedback we receive from students in the course. Feedback provided by learners who completed the course at Enact Music highlighted the learning materials and support given by mentors as excellent, and the online learning platform as very easy to use. mentorship support was detailed, prompt, helpful and friendly.
• For the past years we have been working with a highly diverse CME learners' population, successfully supporting them complete the CME course and develop their teaching to the next level. From music teachers who have little teaching experience, to those who have amassed years and years of valuable teaching and wish to develop their knowledge and solidify what they do through developing themselves further as reflective and reflexive practitioners.  Our CME learners have included instrumental music teachers, primary music teachers,  specialist teachers who have completed PGCE courses, and even a DJ community based music practitioner. These teachers come from a variety of different countries, cultures and musical traditions and have all completed the course successfully after submitting their portfolio.
  
•  Our mentors have learned extremely valuable insights, through mentoring the above described highly diverse group of CME learners, not only on the processes of mentoring, but particularly, on the value that diversity brings to music and music learning. For this reason, part of the mentoring we do, is focused on sharing different perspectives across cultures, developing inquisitive mind-sets of "what if?" and promoting application of new approaches to music teaching, through the processes of experimentation, testing and reflection.
• Our willingness to support learners at the highest possible level, has led Enact Music CME course Director, to engage in in-depth readings and research to create learning materials which are well aligned with the latest trends in music teaching and learning from fields such as music psychology and education. This work culminated on a book (soon to be published by Routledge)  for all CME learners, regardless of where they study. Those who undertake the CME course at Enact Music, apart from access to a rich interactive online platform which contains videos and reading materials, will also receive a free copy of this book. Those doing the course elsewhere, will be able to purchase the book as soon as it is published (expected between April-July, 2021), or through pre-order ( available now at Amazon and Routledge).   This book is the first and so far only book fully dedicated to guiding CME learners in a bespoke learning journey aligned with the learning outcomes proposed by the CME accreditation bodies. Apart from up-to-date content and insights from relevant literature, it also  promotes reflective and reflexive practice  through 'reflective questions', while also providing suggestions on how the course learning outcomes can be addressed.

Both courses provide an equally prestigious music teaching qualification at level 4, and cover the same course content. The main differences are as follows:

• The course content is structured in slightly different ways.

• The type and nature of the assessment tasks are different, requiring different time commitment by mentors and assessors involved in course delivery and management. This results in differences in course price for learners.

At Enact Music, the CME course can be started at any time throughout the year. Therefore, there are no deadlines for submitting your application.

• Let us know by email of your intention to apply for the CME course and what CME course you wish to complete (that is, the ABRSM accredited course or the Trinity College London course).

The Enact Music CME courses were designed to provide you with all what you need to successfully complete the assignment tasks requested by the accrediting bodies (ABRSM and Trinity College London) without the need to buy books or other materials. For this reason, Enact Music CME course Director, Dr Lilian Simones has created up-to-date video recorded lectures and supporting reading materials based on her extensive readings of relevant sources, resulting on her recent book, specifically written for CME learners, referenced as follows:

This book, aligned with the learning outcomes of the ABRSM and Trinity College London CME courses,  provides in a single volume,  strong foundations in the practicalities of teaching music in contemporary diverse settings. These include instrumental and vocal teaching; early years; primary and secondary schools; and, community-based contexts.

If you are undertaking the CME course at Enact Music, apart from access to a quite rich interactive E-Learning  platform, which contains video recorded lectures and guidebooks, you will also be provided with a free copy of the book mentioned above. Those completing the course elsewhere, may find useful to purchase the book (currently available for pre-order at Amazon and Routledge, scheduled for publication between April and July 2021).

It might be that during the course you come across suggested books and resources which you may wish to purchase. Given the commentary made upon a wide variety of relevant  referenced resources in the course learning materials, the purchase of these extra materials is not essential for completing the course assessment tasks successfully, but may add value to your learning, shall you wish to do so.

Assessment for the purposes of completing the CME course level 4 qualification, is done through an online portfolio of evidence that you will be required to complete. Your portfolio must contain all the assessment tasks you have completed, as per the requirements of the accreditation body that you choose to follow for the course (i.e. ABRSM or Trinity College London).

Evidence of prior learning and experience can be used to demonstrate that you have met some or all the assessment criteria. In such case, evidence must be provided to demonstrate that previous qualifications are of the same standard level required for the CME course.
