I really enjoyed studying and completing the Enact Music CME course. I found the online materials extremely informative and easy to use and felt fully supported throughout the duration of the course by my mentor. Feedback was prompt and the regular calls were very encouraging and beneficial too. The flexibility of the course enabled me to complete this around my own schedule.  This course gave me the confidence to open my own teaching studio.

I found the Enact Music CME course very rewarding. It was very straightforward to complete. I had phone calls with my mentor who was very helpful. There was very good feedback  over emails,  phone calls, etc. It's a very flexible course, very adaptable to individuals' needs. When looking for a music teacher qualification I found out that PGCE courses had little relevance to what I was doing as an instrumental music teacher. The Enact Music CME course helped me to build my music teaching professional qualifications and take my teaching to the next level. When lockdown came in, Enact Music also provided important advice on how to move to online teaching.

Peter Maina

kENYA, enact music ABRSM CME
The Enact Music ABRSM CME is a  very insightful and flexible  course. which provided me with  individualised attention from my mentor on my professional development and  on the various  course assignment tasks. The course has equipped me with valuable knowledge  that I use on my teaching on an everyday  basis.

Deborah Cameron

The support and learning resources offered at Enact Music for the CME course meant that I finished the course in just over a year. The CME course made me a much better teacher. The learning of my pupils has improved so much. My professional prospects opened so much as a result of having the CME qualification. Initially a piano and Ukulele teacher, I now also work as an Early Years and KS1 Classroom Music Teacher.

Why should I do the CME course at Enact Music?

Enact Music's commitment to providing excellent learning experiences to learners  can be evidenced as follows:
  • The excellent feedback we receive from students in the course. Feedback provided by learners who completed the course at Enact Music highlighted the learning materials and support given by mentors as excellent, and the online learning platform as very easy to use. mentorship support was detailed, prompt, helpful and friendly.
  • For the past years we have been working with a highly diverse CME learners' population, successfully supporting them complete the CME course and develop their teaching to the next level. From music teachers who have little teaching experience, to those who have amassed years and years of valuable teaching and wish to develop their knowledge and solidify what they do through developing themselves further as reflective and reflexive practitioners.  Our CME learners have included instrumental music teachers, primary music teachers,  specialist teachers who have completed PGCE courses, and even a DJ community based music practitioner. These teachers come from a variety of different countries, cultures and musical traditions and have all completed the course successfully after submitting their portfolio.
  •  Our mentors have learned extremely valuable insights, through mentoring the above described highly diverse group of CME learners, not only on the processes of mentoring, but particularly, on the value that diversity brings to music and music learning. For this reason, part of the mentoring we do, is focused on sharing different perspectives across cultures, developing inquisitive mind-sets of "what if?" and promoting application of new approaches to music teaching, through the processes of experimentation, testing and reflection.
  • Our willingness to support learners at the highest possible level, has led Enact Music CME course Director, to engage in in-depth readings and research to create learning materials which are well aligned with the latest trends in music teaching and learning from fields such as music psychology and education. This work culminated on a book (soon to be published by Routledge)  for all CME learners, regardless of where they study. Those who undertake the CME course at Enact Music, apart from access to a rich interactive online platform which contains videos and reading materials, will also receive a free copy of this book. Those doing the course elsewhere, will be able to purchase the book as soon as it is published (expected between April-July, 2021), or through pre-order ( available now at Amazon and Routledge). Shall they wish to do so, the book's reference is as follows:

This book is the first and so far only book fully dedicated to guiding CME learners in a bespoke learning journey aligned with the learning outcomes proposed by the CME accreditation bodies. Apart from up-to-date content and insights from relevant literature, it also  promotes reflective and reflexive practice  through 'reflective questions', while also providing suggestions on how the course learning outcomes can be addressed.

Simones, L. (2021). Certificate for Music Educators Guidebook: Teaching Children and Young People. Routledge

This book, aligned with the learning outcomes of the ABRSM and Trinity College London CME courses,  provides in a single volume,  strong foundations in the practicalities of teaching music in contemporary diverse settings.
